The Coeur d’Alene Public Library’s annual American GirlTM Tea Party is for children ages 7-12 accompanied by a parent or other adult. Each year this popular event focuses on one of the dolls from the American GirlTM series and the books related to that doll. Each tea party offers specially prepared refreshments, activities and a guest speaker. 100_0833Participants are also invited to bring their dolls – of any type – to dress up like their dolls and to share special items from their own family histories.

The activity has become so popular that it has been moved from the library’s Youth Department to larger facilities away from the library. In recent years it has been held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene. This event is funded in part by a grant from the Friends of the Coeur d’Alene Public Library. The Friends also purchased the collection of American GirlTM Dolls on display in the Youth Department.
