Signing Babies Classes

Give your Baby a wonderful gift that will last through out their life!

This class is designed to give parents of babies from new-born to 2 years old, expecting mothers and their caregivers, the tools necessary to teach their babies sign language It is not necessary to bring your child but they are welcome to attend No charge for the class but donations for the North Idaho Deaf Club will be accepted A new class will be presented each month. Check for the next available class if you can’t attend this month’s class

Some of the benefits of teaching your child signing are:

  • Can communicate wants and needs to their parents and caregivers at an earlier age
  • Earlier understanding of the English Language
  • Language development - may at earlier age
  • Above-average ability to learn a new language
  • Higher I.Q. Average 12 points (Possibly up to 20 points)
  • Greater self esteem - It is important for babies to feel they are understood by others

Parents who sign with their baby will notice:

  • Lower frustration levels - For parents and the baby because the baby can communicate with you
  • Deeper bonding - Parents have a deeper insight into their baby’s mind
  • Higher level of trust - Baby knows and trusts that you understand what he or she is trying to tell you

The topics covered are:

  • History of hearing babies using sign language
  • Benefits of teaching your baby sign language
  • The dos and don’ts of teaching signs to your child
  • How to create opportunities to expose your baby to signs
  • 50 signs will be demonstrated from the dictionary of signs

All materials and dictionary will be provided at no cost
