Second Story Books, in the main lobby of the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, is operated by the Friends of the Library, entirely with volunteers. The bookstore offers gently used hardback and paperback books, audiobooks, movies and music CDs for adults and children. Also available are Friends of the Library items such as book bags and aprons. Proceeds from Second Story Books are used by the Friends to support library programs for adults and children, purchases for the library collection, and for equipment and furnishings.

Donations Policy: The library accepts donations of books and other items that are in a clean and useable condition. The library cannot accept magazines, textbooks, encyclopedia sets, computer equipment or office equipment. All donations are first reviewed for inclusion in the library collection. Items that cannot be used in the collection become the property of the Friends of the Library for use in the bookstore or distribute as needed. Donations added to the collection will be cataloged and displayed according to normal library procedures. Items not added to the collection will not be returned to the donor. In the case of large donations – more than two boxes – an appointment should be made with David Townsend, Communications Coordinator, to schedule a time to deliver the items to the library. For information call 208-769-2315 Ext. 426 or e-mail dtownsend@cdalibrary.org.
